Air defense is sleeping - a cheap quadcopter flew over a $ 330 million Russian A-50U aircraft, landed on a radar antenna and quietly flew away

The Belarusian initiative BYPOL published a video from a drone that flew over the A-50U DLRO early warning aircraft. Where the Russian-Belarusian air defense system was at that time, one can only guess.

What is known

At the end of February became knowno that the drones attacked the A-50U aircraft, the cost of which is $330 million. The incident occurred at the moment when the aircraft was at the airfield in the village of Mauchilischi, 12 km from Minsk. From there, along with the A-50U, the carrier of the Kinzhal missiles MiG-31K constantly takes off.

According to the Belarusian partisans, they conducted reconnaissance using unmanned aerial vehicles for two weeks. As part of one of the missions, a cheap quadcopter entered the territory of the airfield, flew around the plane, sat on a radar antenna in the form of a huge dish, and then calmly flew off on its own business. The air defense system did not notice the drone.

Belarusian partisans said that the A-50U was seriously damaged and would not fly anywhere. But it turned out that this is not entirely true. The attack was carried out using DJI quadcopters, which were equipped with 200 g of explosives and converted into kamikaze drones. The plane was indeed damaged, but on March 2 it flew to Russia, probably for repairs.
