The latest Beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS reveal that the messaging app owned by Meta is working on new chat icons for users without a profile photo.
WhatsApp has not stopped updating its messaging platform with new features in recent times and a good proof of this is that During the last week the messaging app owned by Meta has been updated scam animated avatars and with a privacy option for Communities that allows you to hide your phone number.
Well, it seems that the activity does not cease within the messaging client since, as they advance us from the WABetaInfo mediumthe messaging app is working on a novelty that you will not like if you are one of those who does not have a profile picture on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is testing avatars with the initials of the name for users without a profile picture
The guys from WABetaInfo have discovered both in the Beta version of WhatsApp for iOS 188.8.131.52 and in the WhatsApp Beta for Android with version number 184.108.40.206 that the messaging application is working on a function that will display the user’s initials on a colorful background if the user does not have a profile picture associated with it.
Thus, as you can see in the screenshots that we leave you on these lines, WhatsApp is going to modify the avatars of users without a profile photo, which until now consisted of an empty profile image, for new ones showing said person’s initials.
This is something that will allow you identify a person within a group who does not have a photo on their profilebut, at the same time, it also restricts the privacy of said users, since now they will be easily recognizable by the rest of the people in a group.
These new chat icons for users without a profile photo first arrived in the WhatsApp Beta for iOS and now are already available to some Beta testers for Android. Likewise, it is expected that this new function will reach the rest of the users of the Beta for Android over the next few weeks.
