Are you ready for brain transparency?

Are you ready for “brain transparency”? This question was raised during lectures Duke University Professor Nita Farahani at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Instead, Farahani, a renowned scientist and legal ethicist who specializes in new technologies, predicts a future in which corporations and governments can read people’s minds. In fact, this technology — “the ability to decipher brain wave activity” — already exists, the scientist claims.

“We are not talking about the implanted devices of the future,” she told the audience. Two micro-earphones are supposed to be used as gadgets for receiving and transmitting data on brain activity.

Farahani, however, clarified that “we cannot yet literally decipher complex thoughts.”

According to the report, brainwave monitoring technology will allow employers to determine how hard their employees are working, whether they are distracted, resting as much as necessary so as not to burn out at work and miss deadlines.

In addition, the technology of tracking the behavior of the train of thought of employees can reveal romantic feelings for colleagues, determine brain metrics for optimal performance, identify fraudsters in the office who, hiding behind work, are actually engaged in illegal acts. True, in this case, ordinary employees who synchronized brain activity to work together with a deceiver as part of their work tasks may also suffer.

The purpose of demonstrating the technological future with thought monitoring was to isolate the “positive use cases” and prevent the worst-case scenario from materializing.
