A new level of digital development: Chernyshenko opens an AI headquarters
Artificial intelligence – an independent cyber resource or another member of the Russian government?
Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly important in the regional development of Russia. On Monday, the office of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko reported journalists that it is planned to organize an operational headquarters for AI. The task was assigned to the Ministry of Economic Development.
As noted in the official announcement: “He [Чернышенко] instructed the Ministry of Economic Development to organize an operational headquarters for AI. The leadership was entrusted to the Deputy Minister of Economic Development – Maxim Kolesnikov.
Chernyshenko also ordered the Ministry of Digital Transformation to include criteria related to the introduction of AI in the digital transformation efficiency rating. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed: “I will keep control of the movement in the rating under special control. I ask the leaders of the regions responsible for digital transformation to complete the work on developing strategies that provide for the introduction of artificial intelligence by September 1.”
Maxim Kolesnikov, referring to Chernyshenko’s instructions, recalled that in 2022 the Ministry of Economic Development, together with the National AI Development Center, assessed transformation plans. “The assessment showed that the regions do not pay enough attention to creating conditions for the effective implementation of artificial intelligence. We are ready to assist in the finalization of strategies for the execution of the President’s order,” Kolesnikov said.
According to information from the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development, all interested departments will participate in the work of the AI headquarters as necessary.
