A few days ago, NATO exercises were held in Poland using fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighters and Soviet MiG-29 aircraft. The event showed very interesting results.
What is known
For the exercises, Soviet MiG-29 aircraft of the Polish Air Force and American F-35 Lightning II fighters purchased by the Royal Netherlands Air Force were chosen. The F-16 Fighting Falcon and Dassault Rafale also participated.

F-35s and MiG-29s took off from Malbork Air Base in Poland. Two fighters were able to successfully exchange information and intercept the target of a mock enemy. They also coordinated actions to ensure the safety of the flight of two Polish C-295 CASA transport aircraft.
Indian expert Vijander K. Thakur (Vijainder K. Thakur) claims that the F-35 could detect the targets of a mock enemy and direct them to the MiG-29, which is equipped with obsolete Soviet radars. At the same time, the target is not reflected on the MiG-29 radars.
The expert suggested that the F-35 could remain in Poland, collect information on targets and transmit data to the MiG-29 fighters of the Ukrainian Air Force without crossing the country’s airspace, but remaining in the NATO safe air zone. However, at this stage, this is only a theory, the implementation of which is hard to believe.
