Law enforcement agencies have extradited to the US 22-year-old French citizen Sebastien Raoult, who is suspected of being “one of the important members” of the hacker group. ShinyHunters (also known as Seyzo Kaizen).

Raoul was arrested on June 1, 2022 at Rabat International Airport in Morocco on May 31, 2022 while trying to fly to Brussels (Belgium). He is currently extradited to the US.

Raul and two other accomplices are accused of hacking into secure computers of legal entities to steal confidential corporate information. According to accusatory Act, Raul was a member of the hacker group ShinyHunters, which the US authorities describe as “productive cybercriminals.”

The group sold stolen data and sometimes even extorted ransoms from their victims. Since the beginning of 2020, ShinyHunters has stolen data from over 60 companies in Washington state and around the world. The list of victims includes: including Tokopedia, Homechef, Chatbooks.com , Microsoft , AT&T and MeetMindful .

2 other members of the group living in France are also accused:

• 23-year-old Gabriel Kimiai-Asadi Bildstein (“Kuroi”, “Gnostic Players”);
• 22-year-old Abdel-Hakim El-Ahmadi (“Zac”, “Jordan Keso”);

If found guilty, Raul could face up to 116 years in prison. The defendant’s lawyer, Philip Ohayon, said that the criminal was extradited to the United States because “France abandoned him.”

Back in the summer of 2022, Sebastian’s father said that Raul denies all allegations and claims that his accounts were used without his knowledge. In addition, then Raul’s lawyer said that the extradition of the defendant to the United States is in fact a life sentence, prohibited by Article 3 of the ECHR (European Convention on Human Rights).

In the United States, Raul is charged with nine counts, including:

• Conspiracy to commit computer fraud (up to 10 years);
• Conspiracy to commit fraud using electronic means of communication (up to 27 years);
• Fraud using electronic means of communication (up to 20 years);

In addition, he will have to serve an additional 2 years of the mandatory minimum term for aggravated identity theft after any other prison sentence handed down in the case.
