At the beginning of the year, Germany promised to transfer Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. It seems that in the coming days they will be with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

What is known

As writes CNN, referring to the Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius (Boris Pistorius), Germany has already sent the BMP. It is not yet known how many vehicles are being transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but earlier it was said about 40 units. By the way, the Ukrainian military has already completed a training program on the use of Marder. In the near future, German infantry fighting vehicles will appear at the front.

Marder is a German tracked infantry fighting vehicle. It has been in service with the Bundeswehr since the 1970s. The BMP has many modifications and can accommodate up to 10 people. The Marder boasts a hermetically sealed case made from multiple grades of armored sheets up to 30mm thick. They protect the front of the BMP from 20 mm and 25 mm bullets from a distance of 200 m, and the sides from shrapnel and 7.62 mm small arms. As for armament, this is a 20 mm RH 202 automatic cannon and a 7.62 mm MG3 machine gun coaxial with it. Also in the BMP there is still one machine gun on the roof of the troop compartment.
