The game, created by a developer company of Malaysian origin, has been removed from the Android app store.

At some point in its history, a mobile game developer company based in Malaysia thought it would be a good idea to launch a title called “Slavery Simulator”. Just over a month and 1,000 downloads later, Google has decided to remove it from the Android app store, Google Play.

The decision has been made following complaints from various users of social networks in Brazil, as have explained on CNN. The game, which is no longer available in the store’s catalog today, contained “racist comments” and its description included the ability to “trade, buy and sell slaves.”

Over the past few weeks, the free game It went viral on social networks, especially among communities of Brazilian users. A short time later, complaints related to the racist nature of the game and the normalization of violence towards black people arrived. The game was also categorized as “valid for all audiences”.

In this sense, Google has ruled on the matter, ensuring that have a strict set of policies that developers must followand apps that promote violence or hate against individuals based on their race or ethnicity will not be allowed. They also encourage report any type of app of this type that may appear in the store’s catalogue.

For that reason, Google has decided remove the game from the app store. From the developer company, MagnusGames, they declare that “the game was created solely for entertainment purposes” and condemn any type of slavery. They take the opportunity to also remember that “all the content of the game is fictitious and is not linked to specific historical events.”
