How to Use BHIM App

BHIM App is a payment transaction platform that operates on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system. It is a digital payment solution that helps customers perform financial transactions, including sending and receiving funds in real-time. Funds can be transferred instantly on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year. The service can be availed on bank holidays. 

For using the BHIM app, you don’t need to provide bank account details like bank account number or IFSC code. Customers can send money to the users directly with their VPA or scan and pay with the QR code option in the BHIM app. The app can be used in 13 different languages, including 12 local languages such as Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Odia, Bengali, and Marathi. You can send funds directly to any of your friends or relatives with their UPI ID and also pay for online shopping using the ‘Pay by UPI/BHIM’ option. Many offline shops also accept the BHIM or UPI QR code. 

What can the BHIM App be used for?

The following are the uses of the BHIM App:

  • Send and receive funds using UPI.
  • Pay bills via UPI on merchant websites.
  • Recharge your mobile.
  • Book flight tickets.
  • Scan and pay using the QR code.
  • Send money by using the bank account number and IFSC code.

How to do BHIM UPI Login

Step 1: Open the BHIM app and select your preferred language.

Step 2: Enter the mobile number linked to your bank account.

Step 3: Set a four-digit password.

Step 4: Link your bank account to your mobile number.

Step 5: Set up your UPI PIN by entering your debit card number’s last six digits.

Step 6: Once the PIN is set, the bank account is created.

How to set a passcode on the BHIM app?

To operate the BHIM app, you must set a passcode. Set a four-digit Personal Identification Number and confirm your input. After you enter the PIN, you will be logged into the app and view the dashboard.

Adding Bank Accounts On Bhim App

  • To send and receive funds, you must add a bank account to link it to the app. Only one account can be linked in the app at a time. 
  • Select your bank from the list provided and choose the bank account you want to link.
  • Your linked bank account can be changed in the future by repeating the steps mentioned above.

Setting UPI PIN

The final step to authenticate your payments is to set up a UPI PIN. The PIN is similar to MPIN that is used in other UPI-based applications. Following are the steps you can follow to set up your UPI PIN:

  • Open the BHIM App and click on the main menu.
  • Go to Bank Accounts.
  • Choose ‘Set UPI PIN’ for the bank account linked to your mobile number. 
  • If you have set your PIN previously, you will be informed about the status. If you haven’t, you must provide the expiry date of your credit card and its last six digits.
  • Once you have submitted the required information regarding your credit card, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number to authenticate the UPI reset request.
  • If you want to change the PIN, you just need to enter the current PIN once and then enter the new PIN twice.

How to Download BHIM App?

The BHIM App can be downloaded on both Apple and Android phones. If you want to download it on your android phone, you need to visit the Google Play Store, search for it there, and download it. If you want to download it on your Apple phone, you need to visit the Apple App Store and download it there. 

How to register on and use the BHIM app?

If you are using the BHIM App for the first time, here is how you can proceed:

Step 1: Download the BHIM App on your phone and then open it.

Step 2: Select your preferred language.

Step 3: Select the mobile number registered with your bank account. The verification process will start following this. Click on ‘Next’ to complete the verification process.

Step 4: Set a 4-digit passcode and link your bank account with your account in the BHIM App. For this, you must choose your bank’s name and enter your account number.

Step 5: Your BHIM account will be successfully registered.

Once your account is registered, you can receive or send funds easily. To send money, you simply need to enter the mobile number or payment address of the person you want to send the money to. You can also send funds to bank accounts that don’t support UPI. This can be done by using the IFSC or the MMID code.

To send money to a merchant, you can use the ‘Scan and Pay’ option so that you can scan their QR code to complete the transaction. If your bank account does not support UPI, you will be directed to enter the expiry date of your debit card along with the last six digits of your debit card number. 

How to create a UPI ID or a VPA?

A VPA or a default UPI ID is allotted to customers after registering on the BHIM App. This occurs by default. If you want to add another VPA, you just need to go to the profile section. 

How can I send money through UP using the BHIM app?

Step 1: Log in to the BHIM App and click on ‘Send’

Step 2: Select the beneficiary’s KPI, enter the amount and remarks, and then proceed to forward the funds.

Step 3: Enter your UPI PIN to authenticate and complete your transaction.

How to receive money using the BHIM app?

Step 1: Log in to the BHIM App and press ‘Receive’.

Step 2: Select the beneficiary’s VPA along with the transaction amount. Click on ‘Submit’.

Step 3: A notification will be received by the remitter to accept or reject the transaction request.

How to Transfer money using the ‘Scan and Pay’ option?

You can also make transactions using the ‘Scan & Pay’ option in the BHIM App. A QR code is used in this process which must be scanned to authenticate the transaction.

Those who want to receive/ transfer funds via this method can follow the following steps:

  • Open the app, go to the home screen, and click on the ‘Profile’ tab.
  • Choose the ‘QR code’ assigned to your phone number or the recipient’s phone number. 
  • Select the ‘Scan & Pay’ option and scan the QR code.
  • Enter the amount you want to transfer.
  • Once the payment is complete, you will receive an acknowledgment message.

You can use the BHIM App to transfer money to any merchant or individual with the application. With more than thirty banks accessible through the application, it is rapidly emerging as the preferred mode of safe and hassle-free financial transactions.
