A few minutes ago, there was one more foldable smartphone in the world. Huawei has announced the flagship model Mate X3 with an updated design and flagship hardware.
What is known
Like other Mate X models, the novelty has a book form factor. The internal screen is based on a 7.85” OLED panel with a resolution of 2496 x 2224 pixels. The manufacturer claims ultra-high impact resistance. The refresh rate is 120Hz.
Half of the rear side of the case in Huawei Mate X3 is occupied by an additional display. It is also based on a 120Hz OLED panel. However, the diagonal is reduced to 6.4”, and the resolution is 2504 x 1080 pixels. The back side is protected by Kunlun glass.
According to the manufacturer, Huawei Mate X3 has IPX8 water resistance. All dimensions are not specified, but it is indicated that the thickness of the case in the unfolded video is 5.3 mm. The novelty weighs 239 g. The new hinge allows you to fix the display at any angle.
The smartphone is equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip without 5G support. The single-chip system has a frequency of 3.19 GHz, Adreno 730 graphics and is paired with 12 GB of RAM. The storage capacity is 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB depending on the configuration.

The large round block on the back contains a 50MP main module (Sony IMX766) with OIS, a 13MP ultra wide-angle lens (Sony IMX688) and a 12MP telephoto lens (Sony IMX688) with 5x optical zoom. The smartphone boasts an Ultra-sensing XMAGE imaging system.
The flagship runs on the operating system HarmonyOS 3.1. The battery capacity was 4800 mAh, and the fast charging power was 66 watts. The smartphone also received Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, stereo speakers and a side fingerprint scanner.
Price and when to expect
Huawei Mate X3 will go on sale April 7, 2023 in black, silver, purple, green and gold colors. The cost of versions with a drive of 256 GB and 512 GB was $1900 and $2050 respectively. The 1TB variant is priced at $2345.
