NVIDIA announces GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs based on the Ampere architecture, starting at $499.

NVIDIA finally wraps up the next generation of GeForce RTX graphics cards, and the performance leap is very important. The new RTX 30 series GPUs are based on NVIDIA ‘s new Ampere architecture, allowing up to 2x performance and 1.9x power efficiency compared to the previous Turing-based generation GPUs.

With Ampere Architecture, NVIDIA has made a variety of changes over its older Turing architecture. These include new streaming multiprocessors offering 30 Shader-TFLOPS processing power, 2nd generation RT Cores offering 58 RT-TFLOPS processing power, 3rd generation Tensor Cores offering 238 Tensor-TFLOPS processing power.

NVIDIA has built faster memory for RTX 30 Series cards, dubbed GDDR6X, which can provide almost 1TB / s machine memory bandwidth data for graphics card applications. This is complemented by NVIDIA’s RTX IO, which is their fast GPU-based loading and game asset decompression technology.

NVIDIA also introduced three complimentary applications during its launch event, including NVIDIA Reflex, which can minimise device latency by up to 50%, NVIDIA Broadcast, which offers a fast and easy way to stream, and NVIDIA Omniverse Machinima, which allows the production of movie sequences using game assets. Some of the other features of the 30-series cards include HDMI 2.1 and support for AV1 Decode.

At recent case, NVIDIA unveiled 3 new GPUs – the GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3090 Founders Version, all of which will be based on Samsung’s 8N NVIDIA custom design. At the top of the stack, the GeForce RTX 3090 will feature a massive 24 GB of GDDR6X memory, will work up to 50 percent faster than the current TITAN RTX card and will be priced at $1499 (approx. Rs. 1,09,404).

The GeForce RTX 3080 features 10 GB of GDDR6X memory, offers 2x faster performance compared to the RTX 2080 and comes at a price of $699 (approx. Rs. 51,016). The most interesting card out of the package, however, is the RTX 3070, which NVIDIA says would perform better than the RTX 2080Ti at a price of just $499 (approx. Rs. 36,429).

The GeForce RTX 3080 will be available from September 17th. The GeForce RTX 3090 will be available from September 24th. The GeForce RTX 3070 will be available for purchase in October.
