Microsoft has finally released Outlook Lite for Android devices, and from what we can tell, it performs quite well. From our understanding, Outlook Lite is not vastly different from the regular Outlook app for Android, but the differences are big enough to discuss.
As the name suggests, the Outlook Lite app is a version of the regular Outlook app that has a smaller footprint. It is designed for low and medium-range Android smartphones that have problems running the regular app.
At the moment, Outlook Lite is only available in selected countries, and they are as follows: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and Venezuela.
If users can live without much of the features found in the regular Outlook app, then certainly they’ll find something to love about Outlook Lite, and we suspect Microsoft is counting on this.

The size is around 5MB, which is significantly smaller than the 88MB of the other version, and that’s a good thing. Furthermore, we understand that Outlook Lite has been optimized to run on devices with 1GB of RAM or less.
Not only that but Outlook Lite is expected to use less battery when compared to its bigger brother. Additionally, we should point out that just like Outlook, the Outlook Lite app supports Outlook.com, Hotmail, MSN, Live, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Exchange Online accounts.
However, if you need services like Microsoft Exchange Server, GMail, Yahoo! Mail, OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, Dropbox, Google Drive, and Box, then you should avoid Outlook Lite and go for Outlook.
Overall, the Outlook Lite app is perfect for those who want to send and receive emails. So, even if you have the most powerful Android device available, we would still recommend it because, for most people, the regular Outlook app for Android is overrun with unwanted features that will never be used.
