Employees of the internal political bloc of the Administration of the President of Russia (AP) must get rid of their iPhones before the beginning of April. About it newspaper reports Kommersant, citing several sources who attended a seminar in the Moscow region in early March.

The first deputy head of the presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, set the deadline for replacing the iPhone until April 1. According to the sources of the publication, the requirement to abandon the iPhone is due to security concerns. They believe that American phones are more susceptible to hacking and spying by Western specialists.

The indication of the ban applies to employees of four departments of the internal political bloc of the Presidential Administration: for domestic policy, for public projects, for ensuring the activities of the State Council, for the development of information and communication technologies and communications infrastructure. At the same time, officials of the first three departments will be engaged in the presidential election campaign, which is scheduled for 2024.

AP employees are advised to purchase phones with Android operating systems, its Chinese counterparts or Aurora. According to Kommersant, it is possible that the Kremlin will purchase new secure smartphones for its employees.

A source close to the Presidential Administration said that the ban on the use of Apple technology will also apply to officials involved in domestic politics in regional administrations.
