iSIM is a technology that allows you to integrate a SIM card into a processor. This solution allows you to get rid of the slot for a physical SIM card, as well as an eSIM chip. That is, additional space appears in the smartphone.
Another advantage of the technology is durability, safety, and the ability to install SIM not only in mobile phones and tablets, but also in laptops, compact game consoles, VR helmets, IoT devices, etc. All these gadgets with the help of iSIM can access with 5G and LTE.
Naturally, the technology is still under development and it is not yet known when Qualcomm plans to release its commercial version. By the way, the iSIM demonstration took place in the Samsung laboratory. The demo sample was the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphone with a Snapdragon 888 5G chip on board.
