Rumor: Lenovo is shutting down its Legion line of gaming smartphones

According to media reports, Lenovo has decided to completely close the gaming smartphone division and, accordingly, its Legion series of products.

What is known

This was reported by one of Lenovo employees in the Chinese work community Maimai, but the company itself has not yet confirmed or denied this information.

Many former employees also reported that they were laid off. More precisely, some lost their jobs at Lenovo, and some were transferred to other divisions – for example, to the tablet division. According to preliminary data, layoffs from 50 to 100 employees are expected.

It looks like Lenovo couldn’t keep up with the competition in the smartphone market and was therefore forced to shut down the Legion series. The current high-end gadgets have high performance, so the need for a dedicated gaming phone is slowly disappearing.

The company’s latest gaming smartphone was the Lenovo Legion Y70, which debuted last August.
