Samsung wants to build more semiconductor manufacturing plants in the US

Samsung is preparing to build more chip factories in the US. At the same time, the company believes that government subsidies make it possible to compensate for the difference in costs compared to building sites in Asia.

What is known

Such information was shared by the corporate vice president for the organization of production John Taylor (Jon Taylor). Samsung’s plans to build a new plant in Texas are linked to the desire to meet the demand for semiconductors in the US.

The first Samsung factory in the United States appeared in 1996. The second enterprise had to wait 11 years. Both sites are located in Austin. Next year, the company intends to launch the most modern contract manufacturing of semiconductor products, but will not stop there.

The new enterprise will cost $17 billion. More than half of this amount ($11 billion) the South Korean company intends to invest in the purchase of equipment.

By the end of the decade, Samsung wants to lead the semiconductor market. Now the Taiwanese company TSMC is the leader. At the same time, Intel by this time also declared a plan to enter the top two of the leading players.
