SpaceX has pleased some Starlink satellite internet subscribers in Canada and the US. The company upgraded speed and bandwidth for free.
What is known
SpaceX sent notifications to customers who signed up for Best Effort. Previously, they received access to Starlink in the second place and had connection speed limits, although they paid on a par with regular subscribers.
The speed in the Best Effort tariff is 5-50 Mbps, and the price is $110. At the same time, after reaching the limit of 1 TB, the speed is limited. For comparison, users of a regular tariff plan get access to satellite Internet at a speed of 20-100 MB / s.
The company has been able to launch almost 500 satellites into orbit since the beginning of 2023, allowing it to increase capacity. Recently, Best Effort subscribers in Texas, Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Ontario (Canada) began receiving notifications in which SpaceX promises to increase the speed “to normal” without the need for additional fees.
