Valve is preparing a SteamOS 3.5 update for Steam Deck, the main innovation of which will be an updated kernel, which means performance improvements and a bunch of new features in the future.
What is known
As soon as a new Windows update comes out, dozens of complaints from users of the operating system about certain problems immediately appear, but this is not the case with Linux. A kernel update is a mini-event for open source fans, since such an update portends a lot of interesting and new things for them that ordinary users are unlikely to notice right away. SteamOS 3.5 is one such update. It will add many new features and fixes that will subtly improve the Steam Deck user experience.
The update will also fix the issue with SMT (Intel’s equivalent of Hyper-Threading) and update the graphics driver version. The release date of the update is not yet known, but we know that it will first be available on the testing channel for some time, and only then it will reach ordinary users.
