Subjective mini-course “What do employers want from IB graduates?”

Last spring, I was invited to Innopolis to speak to students who I wanted to tell about something that might be interesting employers from information security specialists and to what extent graduates of Russian universities meet these requirements. It is obvious that my story was, on the one hand, subjective, but on the other hand, it was based on experience; the experience of speaking at different universities, the experience of participating in the preparation of the Federal State Educational Standards, the experience of communicating with graduates, the experience of communicating with employers and studying resumes that have passed and are passing through my hands. All this I tried to present in a two-hour presentation.

However, due to my schedule, I ended up with shift changes between sessions and not many students listened to me (in person and online). And it seemed to me that my presentation was quite interesting and could be useful for many graduates of the IS departments (including future ones), novice specialists, as well as already working IS specialists. Therefore, I wanted to separately record the presentation I made and put it in the public domain. But somehow I kept putting it off… Still, I had to re-record the presentation – it was necessary to find time, break the presentation into lessons, upload everything onto the platform, mark up the lessons, etc. But in the end, I brought this task to the end and I’m ready to present the result!

It turned out not even two hours, but three hour presentation which I split into 14 lessons of 10-20 minutes. You can go through them in any order, especially if you are not a novice information security specialist. But I recommend at least starting with the first three lessons – they consistently reveal the problems. I also want to say that this mini-course outlines the contours rather than reveals all the details and provides the necessary skills and knowledge. But I did not set myself the task of revealing everything. Something can be found on the blog pages, mine are dedicated to something offline courses , something even online courses. For example, I did not begin to deeply disclose the topic of damage assessment – I simply referred to the already developed and laid out in online school BOUNCER ” well. But I admit that I will gradually reveal the disciplines mentioned in the mini-course right there, in the online school, and maybe in any training centers.

In the meantime, if you are wondering what a mature employer needs from information security, invite spend 3 hours of your precious time so as not to waste much more time later and not shed tears about the years spent aimlessly 🙂 You may be interested in other courses posted in the online school “BOUNCER“:
