Recently we wrote on the destruction of the Russian Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system (according to NATO codification – SA-11 Gadfly). Now it’s time to turn our attention to Ukraine’s rarer and more expensive air defense system.
What is known
The 129th territorial defense brigade, using an unmanned aerial vehicle, was able to detect the launcher 9A317 of the Buk-M2 anti-aircraft missile system (according to NATO codification – SA-17 Grizzly). What weapon was used for the attack is not specified. But it is known that the system was found using the Ukrainian-made Leleka-100 reconnaissance drone.

Buk-M2 is designed to intercept aircraft, helicopters, drones and cruise missiles. In addition to the launcher, the complex includes a command and control post, a detection and target designation station, and a radar station.
The Buk-M2 is capable of shooting down fighter jets within a radius of up to 50 km and cruise missiles at a range of up to 26 km. The target speed should be no more than 1.1 km / h towards and 300-400 m / s in pursuit. Response time – 4 ms. It takes about 5 minutes to deploy the system.
