Hiroshi Takai gave an interview to Famitsu magazine where he talked more about Final Fantasy XVI and its timing.
What else is known
The game will have 11 hours of cutscenes, but it does not include scenes during battles or when the player completes additional tasks. Therefore, the final number of hours allocated only for game videos is unknown.
The main story can be completed in 35 hours, if you complete additional tasks, then players will need about 70 hours.
Takai originally wanted to make the game playable in 20-24 hours, but the game’s running time was extended during development. However, no one wanted to make the story too long, so that the players would not get bored. The developers want FF16 to be like a rollercoaster, where players are waiting for surprises, battles, an interesting story and additional content.
The game will also feature a New Game+ mode and a leaderboard to compare your achievements with other players.
When to expect
Final Fantasy XVI will release on June 22, 2023 exclusively for the PlayStation, but the game may arrive on PC as early as 2024.
