WhatsApp has announced the end of WhatsApp support for the most outdated phones and operating systems in October on its official channels.

WhatsApp is still news almost daily. We recently learned that from Meta they were working on the ability to screen sharing during video callsas well as that soon we could choose username in which it is still the queen app of instant messaging around the world.

Today news have appeared on the net talking about the end of WhatsApp support from June for a list of specific devices, when the truth is that in the official FAQ of the app no such date is specified. Rather, the date to be taken into account is a much later one.

This is the deadline for old devices

As we can read on the app’s website, for now WhatsApp is compatible with phones with Android 4.1 and higher and iOS 12 and higher. The alarm generated speaks of the month of June as the end of the useful life of the messaging app, when Meta itself speaks of October 24 on their official channels.

After that date, support for new versions will only be offered to phones running Android 5.0 and later without, for now, mentioning the older versions of iOS. Likewise, WhatsApp itself says that in this process they observe which are the most outdated devices and operating systems to carry out the screening.
