Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers show a prompt to be the default browser on your computer. It is handy when you want them to be your default browser.   • Open the File Explorer
  • Navigate to this path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
  • Right-click on Google Chrome > Show more options > Send to > Desktop.
  • Right-click on the desktop shortcut > Properties.
  • Make sure that you are in the Shortcut tab.
  • Enter this in the Target box at the end of the existing text: -no-default-browser-check
  • Ensure that there is a space between the new and old text.
  • Click the OK button.

Then, you can double-click on the Desktop shortcut of the Chrome browser.

To turn off the Default browser prompt in Firefox, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Firefox browser on your computer.
  2. Click on the menu button and select Settings.
  3. Make sure that you are in the General tab.
  4. Remove the tick from the Always check if Firefox is your default browser checkbox.

Firefox includes a direct option in the settings panel to enable or disable this check. Open the Firefox browser first and click the menu button in the top-right corner. Then, select the Settings option from the list.

Alternatively, you can enter about:preferences in the address bar and press the Enter button to open the same. Following that, make sure that you are in the General tab. If so, you can find an option called Always check if Firefox is your default browser.

Remove the tick-mark from the corresponding checkbox. Once done, Firefox browser won’t ask you to be your default browser.
