Twitter has shared the reasons that have led them to limit the number of daily tweets that users can read. And the truth is that the explanation seems like a joke.
Twitter is still in the news these days. Two days ago we published that the social network had decided that you could only read tweets if you have an account and, as we imagine you already know, last weekend Elon Musk decided limit the number of tweets that can be read in a day depending on whether you are a paying user or not.
This last decision is the one that has brought the most discontent on the part of the users. Until now it was not known why, but as collected in Android Authority Twitter has decided to clarify the reasons that have led him to carry out this movement as unexpected as it is controversial.
And the reasons for Twitter are…
According to the platform itself, the decision to limit the number of tweets is “temporary” and has been made to “ensure the authenticity of the user base”so that bots and spam stay out of the platform. That is the main why; they believe that this way they will be able to detect these unpleasant agents with greater precision. Honestly, it’s hard to take it seriously.
Twitter says any prior notice to users about tweet reading limits would have “allowed bad actors to will alter their behavior to evade detection.” The company has also assured advertisers that the current limits will only affect a small percentage of users, while advertising would have been little affected.
What is not clear is When will Twitter decide to roll back the limits?. The company says it is working to prevent bot accounts from being created and other malicious actors from harvesting public user data to build AI models. They also want to completely stop the manipulation of people and conversations that these bots carry out.
For the rest, from Twitter they say that will provide updated information when the works are completed. It doesn’t look like the tweet limitation situation is going to be resolved anytime soon.
