Unknown hackers launched a cyberattack on the French Veterans Administration

it informed French television channel BFM TV, citing several sources who are aware of the matter.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the ministry is not issuing official statements. Sources who wish to remain anonymous say Russia is likely behind the attack.

According to BFMTV, the hackers got very close to the secret file: the fighter’s card. The office is investigating and the ministry is not officially reporting on the matter.

Journalists noted that servers, databases and management software were attacked by hackers. However, the hackers were unable to access the master file containing the contact details of the former French soldiers.

Thanks to the information contained in the file, in particular the phone numbers of the combatants and former soldiers, the hackers could come into contact with members of the French army.

It took the armed services a month to stop this attack, and this was the first time that a unit of the Ministry of the Armed Forces had come under such attack.
