Tucker Hamilton said the drone killed the operator when he forbade him to attack enemy air defense systems. When the technology was finalized, the drone based on artificial intelligence could not attack a person. However, he decided to destroy the communication towers.

This information was commented by Ann Stefanek, press secretary of the US Air Force office in the Department of Defense. He denied the colonel’s statement and said that the service did not conduct such experiments with artificial intelligence.

According to Ann Stefanek, the US Air Force is committed to the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies. She also added that Colonel Hamilton was joking and his words were likely taken out of context and misinterpreted.

On the other hand, it’s not entirely clear whether Eglin Base shares all of the experiments with the US Air Force’s public relations department. Especially when it comes to tests that require only a computer and software. The 96th test squadron has not yet commented on the situation.
