Allied countries promised to transfer to Ukraine a total of 321 heavy tanks. This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to France Vadym Omelchenko.

What to expect

The ambassador did not specify which countries are in question. According to official information, UK to provide Challenger 2 tanks, United States – Abrams, Poland – Leopard 2 and PT-91 Twardy. Recently Germany approved deliveries of Leopard 2 to Ukraine and allowed the re-export of tanks to partners, therefore, according to media estimatesonly European countries will transfer about 80 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

“As for the delivery time, they vary in each specific case. Some need maintenance, others are solving logistics issues, others are waiting to receive other models in order to give away the ones they give, ”explained Ambassador Omelchenko.

According to him, it is important that Ukraine receive these tanks as soon as possible: “If you wait until August or September, it will be too late.”
