The American company General Atomics agrees to sell Ukraine modern unmanned aerial vehicles MQ-9 Reaper.

What is known

This was reported by the American edition of The Wall Street Journal. According to journalists, General Atomics is ready to sell two UAVs to Ukraine for $1, but the preparation and transportation of drones will cost Ukraine about $10,000,000. In addition, about $8,000,000 will have to be paid for UAV maintenance every year.

To sell drones, General Atomics must obtain permission from the US government. By the way, Ukraine has been negotiating the purchase of UAVs since the beginning of a full-scale invasion.

The MQ-9 Reaper is a reconnaissance and strike UAV developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems for the US Air Force, US Navy and British Air Force. It was created based on MQ-1 Predator. The first flight of the drone took place on February 2, 2001. The UAV is equipped with a turboprop engine, thanks to which the MQ-9 Reaper reaches speeds of over 400 kilometers per hour. The UAV can fly at an altitude of up to 13 km and at a distance of up to 1900 km. The drone can stay in the air for up to 24 hours. The MQ-9 Reaper is equipped with AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-ground missiles and Mark 82 bombs.
