The Armed Forces of Ukraine this spring received the so-called “long-range capabilities”. The ability to strike at a great distance was provided by Great Britain, which redid the Storm Shadow missiles. They immediately demonstrated their effectiveness.

What is known

After receiving “square” missiles, the number of strikes on Russian military facilities far behind the front line increased dramatically. Storm Shadow has a range of over 250 km, but it is not yet known exactly which version of the missile Ukraine received.

In any case, even an export version with a range of 260 km is enough to hit targets in the territory that is temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation. Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that every Storm Shadow launch ended in the destruction of the target. So far, British missiles are showing 100% accuracy.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine use front-line Su-24MR aircraft to launch missiles. MiG-29 fighters cannot carry Storm Shadow due to the heavy weight of the cruise missiles.

In the future, Ukraine may receive even more long-range weapons. In particular, France has an analogue of Storm Shadow called SCALP EG, and an official request has already been sent to Germany for Taurus.
