AirPods Pro 3A283 New firmware adds spatial audio support and automatic switching
Apple will update AirPods and AirPods Pro firmware regularly to patch bugs or adjust performance. Updates are usually not even something most consumers would ever consider. But this time is different. Apple is adding new features in iOS 14, tvOS 14, and macOS Big Sur to AirPods and AirPods Pro, and they obviously need a software update. If you have AirPods Pro, you will soon find they have updated to version 3A283 of the firmware. This will allow two new features for those using the iOS 14 or tvOS 14 beta when they do: spatial audio and automatic system switching. Attach them to your iPhone to verify your firmware version of AirPods and open the Settings window. Select General, About, and scroll down until you see your AirPods name. Tap and you can see details such as model number, serial number and firmware update. To allow Spatial Audio, open Control Center with your AirPods Pro connected and long-press on the volume bar (swipe down from the upper-right corner). You can see the Noise Cancelation and Spatial Audio. You can also open Settings > Bluetooth and tap the info button next to your AirPods Pro when connecting.
