BlueBird Aero Systems, a subsidiary of the Israel Aerospace Industries Group, unveiled a new loitering munition at the Paris Air Show. The kamikaze drone is called SpyX.
What is known
SpyX is a disposable strike drone that will allow the military to destroy enemy targets at a distance of up to 50 km. According to the manufacturer, it strikes objects with a deviation of less than 1 meter.
One of the features of the drone is its open architecture, due to which it can be used together with other BlueBird drones. In particular, with WanderB-VTOL and ThunderB-VTOL.
SpyX is equipped with an electro-optical camera and is controlled from a ground station that includes a laptop. The kamikaze drone carries a warhead weighing approximately 2.5 kg and is capable of flying at speeds up to 150 km/h.
The loitering ammunition itself weighs approximately 10 kg. Flight time is 90 minutes. To launch, a typical launcher is used, which can be installed on a pickup truck, as shown in the main image.
