Apple Releases Hotfix for Zero-Day Vulnerability Targeting iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Safari

The vulnerability is actively exploited in the wild.

Apple released a Rapid Security Response update to fix a serious vulnerability in its browser engine safari WebKit, which allows hackers to run malicious code on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The company said the flaw, tracked as CVE-2023-37450, could be actively exploited in the wild by cybercriminals who could infect devices by luring users to visit malicious web pages.

The update is available for iOS 16.5.1, iPadOS 16.5.1, and macOS Ventura 13.4.1 and should be installed as soon as possible.

Apple did not provide any details about the nature or extent of the attacks, only that the problem was reported by an anonymous researcher.

Rapid Security Responses is a new feature that Apple introduced earlier this year to deliver security patches to users faster and easier without the need for a full software update.

This is the tenth vulnerability day zero, which Apple fixed this year, indicating a growing threat to its devices and users.
