Samsung last month introduced the Galaxy Watch 3, and then said it would also add some of the latest features from the Galaxy Watch 3 to the Galaxy Watch Active 2. It turns out, these features are coming now, with the Galaxy Watch Active 2 in India being rolled out with the latest Tizen 5.5 update.
This update will add the following enhancements to your smartwatch if you are using a Galaxy Watch Active 2. For one, the detection of fall is now now on the Watch Active 2, which means that the watch will detect if the user takes a hard fall and doesn’t get up. With your place, it can then automatically call emergency services too. This is a feature that has been available for a while on the Apple Watch and has reportedly saved a number of lives.
In addition, the upgrade provides Advanced Running Analysis and VO2max to verify the amount of oxygen that you use during workouts. It also brings the Galaxy Watch Active 2 to India with Bitmoji, AR Emoji, and scrolling screenshots.
Normally, you should receive a message telling you that your smartwatch is available with the update. However, you can open the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone and head over to Watch software update to search for the latest update and instal it if you have not received such a notification and are not willing to wait. Updates usually roll out in waves, so if you haven’t got it yet, you’re going to get it in a few days, so just sit tight.
