Germany orders an additional batch of 227 BvS10 all-terrain vehicles worth $400 million

Last December, the UK, Germany and Sweden signed a joint deal to acquire BvS10 armored all-terrain vehicles. A few months later, Germany decided to increase the order.

What is known

The German armed forces have entered into a framework contract with BAE Systems for the purchase of another 227 all-terrain vehicles. The transaction amount was $400. Last year, the UK, Germany and Sweden collectively bought 436 BvS10 units worth $760 million:

  • Germany – 140 pieces;
  • Sweden – 236 pieces;
  • Great Britain – 60 pieces.

The manufacturer of all-terrain vehicles is the Swedish division of BAE – BAE Systems Hägglunds. The plant is located on the east coast of Sweden in the Baltic Sea. BvS10 deliveries to Germany will start in 2024 and last until the end of the decade.

The armored all-terrain vehicle has dimensions of 7.55 x 2.1 x 2.2 mm and weighs 10.6 tons. Armament consists of smoke grenades and one 7.62 / 12.7 mm machine gun. The BvS10 is equipped with a 275 horsepower engine and can reach speeds of 65 km/h on the highway.


The ATV is designed to operate in harsh environments including snow, rocks, sand, mud and mountainous terrain. In addition, the BvS10 can swim in shallow water at speeds up to 5 km/h. The power reserve is 300 km.
