God of War: Ragnarök Lead Artist Defends Bethesda's 30fps Starfield Decision on Consoles

Earlier this month, Starfield director Todd Howard confirmed that the game would only run at 4K 30 fps on Series X and 1440p 30 fps on Series S on Xbox consoles. YouTuber DreamGuy suggested in a now-deleted tweet that this could be a sign of a half-finished game, but Santa Monica senior artist Dannie Carlone disagrees with that assessment.

What is known

“I want to explain, this is not a sign of an unfinished game – said Karlone – this is a choice.” He added: “60 fps at this scale would be a big hit for visual fidelity. I’m guessing they want a flawless look and less ‘pop’. And of course [это] your right to dislike the choice.”

Replying to another subscriber, who then asked him if the game needed 4K resolution, Karlone replied that while some games offer a performance mode that lowers resolution in favor of higher frame rates, Bethesda seems to have decided that visual detail is its priority. .

DreamcastGuy then declined, apologizing for his tweet and saying, “I still wish the game had 60fps on consoles, but now I understand why it isn’t, at least for now.”
