This name was given to her by the Swedish artist Supercomposite, who “discovered” her in April 2022, experimenting with negative requests. He was amazed that the AI ​​easily reproduced her face with different variations of the request and that she appeared in the background of terrible scenes with blood and screams. Loab became a real star of the Internet and even got her own Wikipedia page.

But who is she and why is she so scary? Loab is not a real person, but an AI product that creates images based on text queries. It uses the technology of neural networks, which are trained on a large amount of data and try to mimic what they see. Loab is what the AI ​​thinks is the opposite of a beautiful woman. She is a symbol of how AI can distort reality and create nightmares.

The artist Supercomposite calls it “trony” – an art form of the Dutch Golden Age, which depicts not a specific person, but an idea or an allegory. Loab is an allegory for the horror that AI can create.
