India tested a new generation ballistic missile of the Agni family this week. It’s called Agni Prime or Agni-P.

What is known

The ballistic missile was launched from the island of Abdul Kalam. The Ministry of Defense of India does not disclose the details of the test, but notes that during the test all the goals were successfully achieved.

This was the debut launch of Agni Prime, made after the completion of the weapon development stage. Now the defense department of India is preparing to adopt a ballistic missile into service.

Agni Prime can hit enemy targets at a maximum range of 2000 km. India is also working on the Agni-VI intercontinental ballistic missile with a launch range of up to 12,000 km.
