The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced a list of four astronauts who will be aboard the Orion spacecraft during the Artemis II lunar mission.

What is known

The crew commander was American Captain Reid Wiseman, test pilot of the US Navy. He flew the fourth generation F-14 Tomcat and F/A-18 Hornet fighters and the fifth generation F-35C Lightning II.

The second member of the crew was the American pilot Victor J. Glover (Victor Glover), captain of the US Navy. He flew two dozen sorties during the Iranka War and was also a member of the SpaceX Crew-1 mission in 2020.

The crew of the Artemis II also included American Christina Hammock Koch. She is a US Antarctic Program scientist and holds the record for the longest time spent in space by a woman (328 days 13 hours 58 minutes).

Finally, the fourth crew member is Colonel Jeremy Hansen of the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a fourth-generation CF-18 Hornet carrier-based fighter pilot and has no space flight experience.

Artemis II is the second overall mission of the Artemis lunar program and the first manned mission. It is scheduled for the end of 2024. The SLS Block 1 rocket will send the crewed Orion spacecraft into lunar orbit. The duration of the mission is 10 days.
