What is known

Since February 24, 2022, the Russian army has lost almost three dozen launchers of the Buk anti-aircraft missile system of various modifications. For example, not the newest, but relatively rare “Buk-M2”.

The video above shows the defeat of a self-propelled launcher using the M982 Excalibur precision-guided munition. It can be used by 155 caliber howitzers, including the towed M777.

Excalibur was developed by BAE Systems and Raytheon. The projectile can hit targets at a distance of up to 40 km with an accuracy of 2 meters. In FY 2022 prices, the cost of one M982 precision-guided munition is approximately $100,000.
