Alphabet holding has not yet closed a project that develops delivery using drones. Moreover, Wing plans to optimize the network by making drone delivery more flexible.

What is known

In 2024, Wing will begin rolling out a new logistics network that will move away from a central transportation hub. To be more precise, at the initial stage, the nodes themselves will not go anywhere, but the drones will not have to visit them.

As planned by Wing, drones will pick up goods directly from stores and deliver them to customers. To do this, the company must consider delivery schemes. In the future, Wing still intends to abandon transport hubs. Special platforms will be installed near the stores, where drones can replenish the battery charge.

It is expected that this approach will make unmanned delivery more dynamic. Wing wants the system to be able to handle millions of packages for millions of customers by mid-2024 at a lower cost than ground shipping.
