A budget alternative to the Boston Dynamics robot dog from the Chinese Unitree is presented
Unitree Go 2 is like Boston Dynamics, but for everyone.
Chinese company Unitree unveiled its new robot dog Unitree Go 2 . The base model costs $1,600, but including shipping and customs fees, the final price is around $2,400. Robodog is available for pre-order now.
The Unitree Go 2 is just under 40cm high, 68.5cm long, weighs 15kg and is equipped with a camera, flashlight and 360-degree LiDAR sensor. The robot is equipped with 12 motors, a 8000 mAh battery that provides 1-2 hours of operation, and supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth to communicate with the application. The base model is capable of speeds up to 2.5 m/s.
The more expensive $2,800 “Pro” model adds a speaker and microphone, 4G connectivity, a faster processor, and increases top speed to 3.5 m/s. There’s also an “EDU” model that can reach speeds of up to 5m/s and adds 9A fast charging and a 15,000mAh battery.
The video demonstrates the robot’s ability to perform various tricks, including jumping, somersaulting, paw shaking, and walking down steps on two legs. The Unitree Go 2 can follow the owner with the wireless positioning and tracking module. ChatGPT is integrated into all robot models to generate code for executing commands.
