After the failure of Stadia, it seems that Google wants to try again with the game in the cloud, but this time through its popular video platform.

Google is experimenting with cloud gaming via YouTube: after Stadia, life goes on
Google would already be working on a new cloud gaming service through YouTube, called Playables

As many of you already know, last year it was announced that we would start 2023 by saying goodbye to a video game platform that really never quite got off the ground. Of course we talk about Google Stadiathat closed its servers last Januarysomething that almost no one was surprised at the time of its announcement, and more taking into account some previous movements of Google, such as the closure of internal studiesFor example. Now, although Stadia did not go well, that does not mean that the game in the cloud of Mountain View does not have a new life.

According to a report in The Wall Street JournalGoogle would be taking advantage of its cloud gaming technology to give a new life through YouTube. Apparently, the aforementioned medium has had access to an email internal company and it has revealed the existence of the service ‘playable’. This is obviously not official, but it is not at all far-fetched and seems like a very interesting idea. So, let’s see the details of this news.

Google does not give up after the failure of Stadia: they would already be working on a new cloud gaming service through YouTube

As The Wall Street Journal has well reported, ‘Playables’, the aforementioned service linked to YouTube, aims to guarantee access to video games from mobile devices and computers so that these are broadcast instantly, both in browsers and in the official app of the platform itself. Although we said that it is not an official announcement, there are several reasons why we can be sure that this will end up coming sooner or later and in one way or another.

What is certain is that the email to which they have had access from the indicated medium was aimed at invite employees to test the service featured in the news, although this not that it includes much information on the same nor about the games that would be available in this service. However, it does seem to have been mentioned a title called Stack Bouncewhich is a proposal based on destroying layers of blocks with a ball, something that can be seen, apparently, through a screenshot attached to the aforementioned email.

On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that The Wall Street Journal has contacted the Mountain View company to learn more about this new service cloud game and they got an answeralthough it seems that for now they don’t have much to share about it: “Videogames have been, for a long time, an aspect to focus on YouTube“said a Google spokesperson. “We are always experimenting with new features, but we have nothing to announce right now”.

Be that as it may, it seems clear that this new cloud gaming service through YouTube is a reality and that it is only a matter of time before this ends up being officially announced. Therefore, we will have to be attentive to future developments on this matter, something to which we can call it a “Stadia 2”although it does not look like both platforms are going to have much of a relationship with each other.
