Boeing has delivered the first MQ-28 Ghost Bat unmanned aerial vehicle to the United States. In the photo above, he stands to the left of the Boeing MQ-25 Stingray unmanned tanker, which was developed at the request of the US Navy.

The Ghost Bat is designed for the Royal Australian Air Force. However, last year the Pentagon announced a desire to test an unmanned aerial vehicle in the United States. Boeing has deployed the MQ-28 to the Phantom Works facility, which is adjacent to Scott Air Force Base near St. Louis, Missouri.
The new drone will be used for testing, said Krystle Carr, Boeing’s director of shared unmanned platforms. However, she did not go into details and did not tell what tests the MQ-28 should pass.
The US Air Force is interested in how effectively the Ghost Bat can be used in combat. The service wants 1,000 slave drones to work with fifth and sixth generation fighters. Such drones should distract the enemy air defense system, strike, collect intelligence data and be cheap.
A few months ago, Lockheed Martin Vice President Greg Ulmer during the Australia International Airshow 2023 declaredthat the company will discuss the possibility of combining F-35 Lightning II aircraft with MQ-28 Ghost Bat drones. Boeing CEO Ted Colbert called the partnership between the two defense companies “great news.”
