Dropbox introduced a universal personal file search with artificial intelligence

Two services based on artificial intelligence appeared on the Dropbox platform: the first summarizes documents, the second searches for files in the cloud, the Internet, and also on the user’s device.

What is known

The universal search engine is called Dash. It came about as a result of Dropbox’s acquisition of Command E in 2021.

Dash works as a universal search across the device and connected apps. There is also a browser extension.

One of the sections of the Dash start page may contain documents that will be needed at the hangout. The tool also collects similar files in “stacks”. However, users can create their own stacks, and Dash will suggest files and links to add.

The representatives of the company compared “stacks” with Spotify playlists: they are a mixture of personally curated and algorithmically enhanced results.

Dropbox AI is available now for Pro clients and select teams. The company has also opened a waiting list to participate in the beta testing of Dash.
