Following approval, ordered missile defense systems Arrow-3 German budget committee agreed to allocate funds for the purchase of anti-aircraft missile systems IRIS-T in the SLM modification. This is reported by Reuters news agency, citing a German lawmaker in the committee.

Germany planned to purchase eight systems, but the order was ultimately reduced to six units. The cost of the transaction will be €950 million ($1.02 billion). The armed forces will receive the first IRIS-T SLM complex in 2024.

Germany transferred two IRIS-T SLM systems to Ukraine, but still does not have a single system in service. It is designed to intercept cruise missiles, drones, helicopters and aircraft at an altitude of up to 20 km and at a distance of up to 40 km.
