Germany to transfer Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems from Slovakia to Lithuania to protect NATO summit

Germany is preparing to deploy MIM-104 Patriot air defense systems to Lithuania. We are talking about anti-aircraft missile systems, which are now in Slovakia.

What is known

German MIM-104 Patriots are called upon to protect Lithuanian airspace during the NATO summit, which will be held in July this year. This was announced yesterday by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

Germany will provide land, air and sea-based assets to secure the meeting of NATO leaders in Vilnius on 11-12 July 2023. The corresponding request was made by the leadership of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Anti-aircraft missile systems MIM-104 Patriot will not return to Slovakia. In doing so, Germany will support its NATO ally by providing additional radar and offering air force support in securing airspace.
