Google Drive, the cloud storage service from the Mountain View company has passed in recent years from being a mere archive store to become a true productivity tool, since allows you to view all kinds of documents and scan them directly from the app.

Well, recently the American firm has taken another step to take Google Drive to its next level, since it has incorporated a function with which you are going to be able to edit PDF files without leaving the application.

Next, we explain, step by step, how you can edit PDFs with Google Drive quickly and easily.

How to edit PDF documents with Google Drive

To start editing PDFs with Google Drive you simply have to open the application on your Android mobile, open a PDF file and tap on the button with a pencil icon which is located in the lower right corner of the app.

By doing this it will be displayed at the bottom a toolbar with six different buttons:

  • A marker
  • a highlighter
  • An eraser
  • One button to undo
  • One button to redo
  • A button (with an eye icon) to show the before and after

If you double-click on the first one, the marker, you can configure the size of the stroke and the color with which you want to write, being able to choose between four shades: red, black, blue and green. Using this marker to make annotations or drawings in a PDF is very simple, since you only have to click on the button, select the part of the file on which you want to annotate and write with your finger or a stylus. Once you have finished editing the document, tap on the button Keep that appears at the top right of the app.

However, you should keep in mind that to move through the PDF file, you must do it with a two-finger scroll and to zoom you have to make the typical pinch gesture.

The highlighter, which can also be set as the first one by double-clicking on it, follows the same mechanics as the previous one, since you simply have to select the size of the stroke and the color and use your finger to underline what you consider appropriate. When you have finished underlining, click the button Keep for the changes to take effect.

If what you want is to delete an annotation or an underline, all you have to do is tap on the eraser icon and then tap on the items to delete.

The other three buttons on the toolbar allow you to undo and redo your last action within the PDF and compare the original file with the one you have modified.
