Kazakhstan disconnected miners from power grids due to power outages

The authorities of Kazakhstan have decided to disconnect local miners from the power grid amid protracted problems with electricity in the country.

On January 21, a corresponding warning was sent to almost two hundred companies that are engaged in cryptocurrency mining. On January 24, the government completely stopped the planned supply of electricity to miners. The ban will last until January 31 inclusive, but it is possible that it will be extended in February.

At the same time, Alan Dorjiev, head of the Blockchain Association in Kazakhstan, noted that it was not the miners who were to blame for the power outages, but the old infrastructure. According to him, the power plants in Kazakhstan have been operating for about 40 years, and their depreciation is more than 70%.
