Lockheed Martin resumes flights of F-35 Lighting II fighters - the first aircraft took off from Fort Worth

The American company Lockheed Martin has finally resumed inspection and acceptance flights of the fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighter. The aircraft remained in the hangar for almost three months.

What is known

Deliveries were halted in December 2022 due to the fact that during the landing of the F-35B fell on the runwayand the pilot ejected. The reason was the vibration of the power plant. In this regard, Pratt & Whitney suspended the supply of F135 engines.

After Pratt & Whitney found a way to fix the problem, inspection flights resumed. On March 6, the first fighter aircraft took off from Fort Worth, Texas, where Lockheed Martin manufactures almost all of the F-35 Lightning IIs.

US Department of Defense now requires upgrading the entire F-35 fleet, although most aircraft do not have a defect. This is due to the desire of the Pentagon to have a single Lightning II configuration throughout the world.

Acceptance flights will pave the way for the resumption of posts, but Lockheed Martin has not yet given a date. As of mid-February 2023, the company had about two dozen fighters ready for acceptance flights.
