Lockheed Martin upgrades UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, extends service life to 2070 and doubles production at plant in Poland

Lockheed Martin is developing an upgrade plan to extend the life of the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. An important role in this will be played by the Polish company PZL Mielec.

What is known

The UH-60 Black Hawk first flew about 50 years ago and will continue to fly for almost the same number of years. The helicopter will remain in service until 2070. This was stated by Anthony Tite (Anthony Tite), head of business development at Lockheed Martin UK.

The upgrade plan for the UH-60 Black Hawk will be through Lockheed Martin’s subsidiaries Sikorsky and PZL Mielec. In Poland, the production of helicopters will be increased from 24 to 48 aircraft per year

The UH-60 Black Hawk entered service with the US Army in 1978, four years after its first flight. In total, there are more than two dozen modifications of the helicopter. The UH-60 Black Hawk is in service with approximately 30 countries, including the United States, Australia, the Republic of Korea and Japan.
